Cy-Hawk Football ๐Ÿˆ ๐ŸŒช๏ธ ๐Ÿฆ…

The Iowa-Iowa State football rivalry, often dubbed the "Cy-Hawk" rivalry, is one of the most storied and passionate in college football. This annual clash between the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State University Cyclones brings together fans from all corners of the state, creating an electric atmosphere both in the stadium and across Iowa. The rivalry dates back to 1894, with each game adding another chapter to the fierce but respectful competition between these two schools. The winner takes home the coveted Cy-Hawk Trophy, a symbol of bragging rights that resonates deeply within the state.

As this years game approaches, the anticipation is growing. Both teams started the season with easy wins, with the Hawkeyes' nationally renowned defense facing off against the Cyclones' dynamic offense. Recent games have been low scoring, mostly favoring the Hawkeyes. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual observer, the Cy-Hawk game is a must-watch event that showcases the pride, tradition, and spirit of college football in Iowa.

Beyond the Xs and Os, the Cy-Hawk rivalry is about more than just football. It's a celebration of the entire state, bringing together communities to share in the excitement of game day. Tailgates, watch parties, and gatherings in homes across Iowa will be filled with the familiar sounds of friendly banter and spirited debate, as fans young and old unite to support their teams. This yearโ€™s matchup promises to be another memorable chapter in the long history of the Cy-Hawk rivalry.

ICON Water Trails ๐Ÿšฃ

The Iowa Confluence Water Trails (ICON) is a project to develop and invest in infrastructure to safeguard our waterways for generations to come. Business leaders, city officials, water enthusiasts, and more have come together to connect 80+ improvements across 150 miles of rivers and creeks in central Iowa. In the end, it will become a playground for kayaking, rafting, and paddling throughout the region.

Against that backdrop, ICON Water Trails received has a $1 million federal grant to support the Fleur Drive dam mitigation project on the Raccoon River in Des Moines. This project, part of a broader $125 million regional initiative, aims to transform the existing low-head dam into a recreational hub with beginner-friendly whitewater activities. The initiative is a collaboration between local governments and the private sector, enhancing both recreation and drinking water quality for Central Iowa residents. The funding is part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024.
